As the people of God we are called to be a light. A light shining in dark places, bringing hope to helpless situations, illuminating the lives of the lost to reveal the love of God. But all to often we misunderstand what it means for us, the church, to be the light of the world. We tend to turn our light on & off. Or try to stay lit dimly in the corner hoping no one will see us. We want to believe in God when it’s convenient. Show up for him when it’s easy. But check our Christianity at the door when it really matters. And when we do this we miss out on the life God is calling us towards. A life that shines. How do we shine? How do we bring hope to the helpless & light to the darkness? It all begins with Jesus.
